Kenya election commission has set October 17 as the date for a new vote ordered by the Supreme Court when it annulled the August 8 poll won by President Uhuru Kenyatta. The election will be contested by Kenyatta who is running for the second term and opposition leader Raila Odinga. Some Kenyans have welcomed the ruling saying it reduced the potential for a repeat of the kind of violence that followed the disputed 2007 presidential election.
