Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s new security strategy for the region of South Asia where Afghanistan is struggling to defeat the Taliban. Afghanistan plunged into violence in 2003 when U.S. President George Bush ordered U.S. troops into Afghanistan to hunt down those responsible for the 9/11 attacks on Washington. Ghani also called for diplomatic efforts to be pursued to end the war. He urged regional neighbours to engage with each mother to end terrorism.
