The Syrian government local authorities in Aleppo have started the reconstruction of Syria’s largest city now that eastern Aleppo has been recaptured from the Islamic State. Located in the northern part of the country, Aleppo serves as an important business centre. However, most of the infrastructure, including houses, roads and hotels have been destroyed following fierce fighting in December 2016. Aleppo used to be Syria’s populous city of 1.9 milli9no people, but since war broke out, people fled to mother areas, leaving Aleppo an almost empty city. With the reconstructions, people are now trickling back to restart their lives.
