Despite the European Union and Italy’s bolstered border control measures boats overcrowded with migrants continue to arrive on the shores of Europe. Some of the rickety boats used by the migrants are so overcrowded that they simply capsize.  This morning Libyan Coastguards rescued seventy-five migrants, 53 men and 19 women when their boat experienced distress. Italy and the European Union have provided training, equipment, repairs and vessels to the Libyan Coastguard in an effort to curb the departure of overcrowded migrant boats from Libyan shores.
