The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), has agreed to send about 3 000 additional troops to Afghanistan for training missions. NATO stressed that the soldiers will not participate in combat, but will provide training assistance and technical support to Afghan troops. With the new contingent, NATO troops stationed in Afghanistan will increase to 16 000 in total.
