Subsequent to the agreement between the UAE and Israel, the Palestinian Authority on Thursday announced the "immediate" recall of its ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. The decision they said is in protest over the country's deal to normalise ties with Israel. Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas’s spokesperson had this to say….
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas’s spokesperson
"The Palestinian leadership announces its strong rejection and condemnation of the surprise American-Israeli-Emirati tripartite declaration on a full normalisation of relations between the occupying Israeli state and the United Arab Emirates, in exchange of an alleged temporary suspension of the plan to annex Palestinian lands and extend Israeli sovereignty over them."
"The Palestinian leadership rejects what the United Arab Emirates have done and considers it a betrayal of Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa and the Palestinian cause. (It considers it as well as) the recognition of Jerusalem (by the UAE, ed.) as the capital of Israel, and demands that it immediately withdraws from this disgraceful agreement. It also refuses to trade off the illegal annexation plan for the Emirati normalisation, and it refuses to use the Palestinian issue as a cover for this purpose."
"The (Palestinian) leadership affirms that neither the UAE nor any other party has the right to speak on behalf of the Palestinian people, and does not allow anyone to interfere in Palestinian affairs or report on their behalf in their legitimate rights in their homeland."
