Indian forces opened fire with shotgun pellets and tear gas on a procession by hundreds of Muslims in troubled Kashmir on Saturday. According to reports dozens of people who had ignored a ban on religious gatherings were injured. Authorities in India had re-imposed the ban on Thursday as traditional processions for the Muharram holy month were going to be embarked on.
